Delete Oracle RAC Database on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA HA X5-2)

This doc describe how to delete Oracle RAC Database on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA HA X5-2)

On ODA we use oakcli command line to delete the database.

1. Execute oakcli delete database command as root user and provide database name.
2. Enter password for SYS
3. Enter Y to confirmation.
4. Verify the database.

[root@ABC1x5-2]# oakcli delete database -db LONDON

Generate a Database configuration file on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA HA X5-2)

This doc describe how to generate a database configuration file on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA HA X5-2)

On ODA we use oakcli command line to generate a database configuration file.

1. Execute oakcli create db_config_params command as root user.
2. Select the Database Block Size.
3. Specify the Database Language.
4. Specify the Database Characterset.
5. Press Enter key to display more available database charactorset.
6. Specify the Database Territory.
7. Specify the Component Language.
8. Select NLS Characterset.
9. Verify the newly created Database Configuration file.

Check the existing default DB-Config-Patams

[root@ABC1x5-2]# oakcli show db_config_params

Create Oracle Single Instance Database on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA HA X5-2)

This doc describe Oracle Single Instance Database creation on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA HA X5-2)

On ODA we use oakcli command line to create the database.

I'm using default database parameter file.

1. Execute oakcli create database command as root user and provide oracle home.
2. Enter password for SYSASM (default is welcome1)
3. Enter Database type.
4. Choose Database Deployment type.Enter 1 Enterprise Edition to create Single Instance Database.
5. Select the Node to host the Single Instance database.
6. Choose Database class to allocate number of cores and memory for particular database.
7. Choose EM DB console.
8. Verify the database.

Create Oracle RAC Database on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA HA X5-2)

This doc describe Oracle RAC Database creation on Oracle Database Appliance (ODA HA X5-2)

On ODA we use oakcli command line to create the database.

I'm using default database parameter file.

1. Execute oakcli create database command as root user and provide oracle home.
2. Enter password for SYSASM (default is welcome1)
3. Enter Database type.
4.Choose Database Deployment type.
5.Choose Flash Storage.
6. Choose Database class to allocate number of cores and memory for particular database.
7. Choose EM DB console.
8.Verify the database.

Create Oracle Database 11gr2 home on ODA X5-2 with virtualization

This doc describe the steps to create additional Oracle database home with different version.

we are creating Oracle database 11gr2 home. Oracle database 12c is the default database home.

1. Download the End-User RDBMS Clone files from MOS 888888.1

I have downloaded below one.

End User RDBMS Clone file for 11.2.0.4.161018 Patch 17770873

2. Transfer the End user RDBMS clone to ODA. Use Winscp.

3. Check the existing database homes on the ODA.

4. Unpack the patch bundle p17770873_121290_Linux-x86-64.zip using the following oakcli command on first node as root user

Error encountered Oakcli Deploy Failed at step 17 GiConfigAssists on ODA X5-2 With Virtualization

This doc based on the Error encountered during Oakcli Deploy Failed at step 17 GiConfigAssists on ODA X5-2 With Virtualization.

below are the screen shots of the error.

Solution:- we need to complete the step 17 manually.

Run the following step on both nodes

1) /u01/app/12.1.0.2/grid/bin/oclumon manage -repos changerepossize 3895
2) Setting ASM cardinality to all ==> srvctl modify asm -count all
3) sed -i 's/CRS_LIMIT_OPENFILE=.*/CRS_LIMIT_OPENFILE=65536/' /etc/rc3.d/S96ohasd

(If the task does not give any error, it works successful.)

Now we need to complete the rest of steps manually.

use below command to complete the steps from 18 to 24 on Virtualization env.

cd /opt/oracle/oak/onecmd/

check for configration file and execute the below command.

GridInst.pl -o -r 18-24

after successful completion look into the logs file for steps 18-24.

ntpdate synchronizing with time server failed (at step 10 validateEnv) during ODA X5-2 with VM deployment

This doc will be helpful for those experiencing NTP time synchronization during ODA deployment.

I have encountered this issue. ntpdate synchronizing with time server failed (at step 10 validateEnv) during ODA x5-2 with Virtualization Deployment.

below are the screen shot of the issue.

To resolve the issue we can try to check the status and start the ntpd on both DB nodes.

service ntpd status

service ntpd start

then try start the installation. In my case this didnt work.

Second workaround is to skip the NTP. This worked in my case.

Start the installation again and remove the NTP IP from the config file. Cluster Time Synchronization Service (CTSS) will take care of time sync.
